Hello Little One,

I am convinced that your size is doubling by the day.  It feels like all of a sudden you are massive.  Our doctor is very excited that you are exactly on track, measuring right on at 32 weeks.  So to all those people who think we look like we should be due any day…YOU’RE WRONG!  You’re doing so perfectly.  Your dad and I have started to take classes to prepare for you and it getting more and more real that you will be here with us in no time at all.

You currently love laying on your side with your head to the left and your little buns on the right, which makes my belly this really odd peanut looking shape.  It’s kinda funny that you already have little habits like this.  Lately you are totally down with pancakes, which is new.  I’m not a huge fan of pancakes but man…some little blueberry pancakes with some peanut butter on that mess…its soooo good.  I think for the first time in my whole life, we actually bought pancake mix, and plan to have a little pancake party this weekend : ).

You are introducing me to all sorts of new foods : ).

I love you little one.  8 more weeks to go and we get to hug you and squeeze you (gently of course).  Cant wait!

Hello Little One,

9 more weeks to go baby boo!  look at us go!

I have to admit, i’m getting quite anxious to meet you.  we had our first shower and its so strange having all of these tiny things in our home when we don’t even know who you are yet!  i hate to admit it, but i haven’t actually bought you anything myself yet.  i kinda wanna get to know you first : ).  i cant wait to meet you and to learn about you and to watch your little personality come out as you grow.  apparently i have this face i make at your dad when hes giving me a hard time (lets be real…when hes making fun of me) or being ridiculous.  i made said face and he said “oh man i hope penny gets that look from you!”  its so fun dreaming up the different things you will take from each of us.  of course we hope you get all the good stuff.

we start our birthing classes tonight and we’re a little nervous.  the idea of labor coming so soon is a little bit scary, but knowing that once we’re through that we get to have you and get to finally officially welcome you into our little family is making it a little less scary.  sometimes.  : ).

a couple of things you enjoy most lately are honey bunches of oats and you currently love only being on the left side of my tummy.  this must be a really comfy side because you rarely make your way over to the right.  my tummy is pretty much always lopsided which is kinda funny.  do your thing little lady.

we love you penny.  like whoa.

Here we are little one!

The 10 week countdown till we get to squeeze your little face has begun!  I think you are a little bit too excited about it because you are kicking REALLY hard these days.  So hard that you kinda stop me in my tracks every now and then.   We saw the doctor yesterday and she said that you are right on track.  Exactly the right size and everything!  We’ve now come to the stage where we have an appointment every two weeks and we’ve talked about the signs we should be looking for in case I go into labor! WHAT!  It’s so crazy how soon you are coming and your dad and i are gettin all sorts of antsy!

Our first shower is this weekend and we are so excited to see all the little things you will be wearing, sleepin in, and playing with.  All of our friends and family up in bakersfield on your dads side are so happy about you and so excited to meet you  :).  You’re kind of a big deal.

Even though I’m getting a little nervous about what lies ahead (labor is a little scary : /)  I cannot wait to hold you and to watch your dad hold you.  We love you SO much!  Lets make these last 10 weeks some pretty epic ones…shall we?

Pretty much every one of my friends is talented in some way or another.  Whether its photography, music, baking, anything that involves being creative.  I love that im surrounded by people who are artistic and who do things well, and most importantly they are just genuinely wonderful people.

One of these ladies in particular is a dear friend of mine Kim Bogardus.  You should check out her photo skills here.  A couple weeks ago, she took some really sweet maternity shots of me, the hubs, and this bump o mine.  I L-O-V-E them!  She sent them to me today and I just could not resist sharing them.

Hello Little One!

we are diving right into summer with some above 100 degree weather these days.  its a bit rough.  im sure you are comfy and cozy in there, but mama is hot hot hot.  and swelling like a balloon!

lately you will get a good stretch in there and i can feel one of your little limbs poking at my belly.  sometimes when you roll over i can feel it go from one side of my belly to the other.  its really amazing.  i don’t think i could ever describe how incredible this is…to feel you moving around in there and to know that in 11 short weeks (whoa!) we get to meet you and smooch all over those little arms and legs that have been flailing around in my tummy!

we have a doctors appointment next week, hopefully we will get to see you!  but i’m excited to hear about how you are growing in there!

we start our birthing classes in a couple of weeks!  we’re getting all sorts of prepared for you, and we are really wishing you were here already!  we love you so much penny!

“how far along are you” “oh man you must have a big baby”

“your belly is way bigger than it should be”

“you are getting bigger!”

“look at you!” (puff cheeks and hold hand out in front of belly…simulating your size)

things you should always say to a pregnant lady:

“you look beautiful!”

“look at your tiny belly!”

“you are the most majestically gorgeous female in all the land!”

“your hair (skin, eyes, legs, pretty much anything) looks great!”

Why people feel the need to say ridiculous things to woman that are at least 30 lbs heavier than their normal state is BEYOND me.  if you see a prego…dont talk about their size, dont mention their weight or the fact that their face is a little rounder…what is that? tell them they are lovely, give them a congratulations and move on!  trust me…itll make them feel so much better.

Little one,

You’re my perfect, my perfect, my perfect, my perfect little peeeeenny!

That is a real song, and we sing it to you all. the. time.  You are definitely getting bigger, because yesterday you gave me a swift kick in my rib, which was not all that pleasant.  I’m so used to feeling you low and you are all over the place now.  Sometimes both sides of my belly move at the same time, which is most likely your little arms and legs moving about.  You are constantly partying it up in my belly!  You still move around while im awake and sleep when i sleep, which your dad and i pray carries over into your first few months of life on the outside.

We are officially in the 3rd trimester and we get to meet you in exactly 3 months!  goodness gracious!

your dad was doing laundry last night and accidentally washed one of your shirts (which needs to be washed eventually so…good job dad!).  we sat and looked at this tiny shirt that was pulled out of our laundry and couldn’t believe that we will have someone soon that is small enough to fit in that tiny little shirt!  you are so little and so precious.  its all so amazing!

all in all we’re feeling pretty good and you are loving everything we eat.  you have a bizarre affection for raisins. which i don’t mind at all.  they are probably a lot healthier than the chalula and ranch phase we went through.

keep on doin what your doin baby girl.  we love you a whole lot…and then some.

One question I get a lot (which i didnt expect) is “what’s the theme for your nursery?”

i usually respond with some awkward answer like..ummm colors?  but i guess that’s pretty true.  i’ve never really been a fan of things that are baby.  like full on nurserys that are decked out in winnie the pooh (i love winnie the pooh, i just dont want a ton of winnie the pooh stuff in my house).  to each their own.  if you love themes…theme it up.  get real theme-y with yo bad self.  its just not me.

the wall above penny’s crib will most likely change several times before penny’s arrival, but the idea is in motion.  the hot air balloon print is actually from an amazing little calendar that my friend faiths mom gave me for christmas.  every color in it is perfect and its a nice reference to pull from when i add things in the room.

there are SO many projects that need to be done.  like finding a dresser to refurbish for the changing table, getting the shelves up above said dresser (thanks dad!), framing prints, finishing this blanket (only one more chunky stripe to go : ) ), and im sure ill think of many more projects by the time she gets here.

its all so exciting, overwhelming, fun and stressful all at the same time!

Little one,

We are on our last week of the second trimester!  WHAT? thats crazy!

some neat things and also some not so neat things happened this week.  lets begin with the neat!

you’ve started doing this really cute thing where when your dad says hello and asks you to give him a good kick or “high five” you totally thump back to him.  this could just be coincidence but it happens pretty frequently, so we’ve decided that you are a baby genius and can kick on command : ).  Also, pretty neat…your auntie karen and cousin lily lent you some really adorable outfits!  i cant wait to see your adorable buns in some of these cuties!

the not so neat is when we took a little tumble down the stairs on campus when your dad and us were having some lunch.  luckily i have a talent for falling gracefully enough to not land on you and to only really scuff the crud outta my legs.  you are safe and so am i, but it definitely was not a very fun experience.  your dad was pretty worried most of the day, but our doctor assured us all is well.  sorry for the scare little one.  its hard to not be a little clumsy when im starting to not be able to see my feet so well : ).

we’ve ventured into the double digits and you are now 98 days away (give or take a few im sure) from being inducted into this little family of ours. we are so excited!  we love you so much penelope joy.

Good morning little one!

I just got back from the doctors office and you are growing right on track.  Your heart beat is super strong and you are awesome!

I had another dream about you. In each of the dreams ive had about you (there have been two) the main theme is that you have huge blue eyes just like me and your dad and you are possibly the smiley-est baby i have ever seen.  I was holding you in my arms and i said “well hello there little one!” and your face just lit up.  I’m pretty sure this means you are gonna be a happy little baby with some righteous baby blues! : )

i seriously can not wait to meet you and I cant believe that we’re already at 25 weeks! and the next time we see the doctor we’ll be at 30 weeks…whoa. crazy.

we love you so much penny!
