Dear Little One,

Oh. My. Goodness.  Today was the BEST day!  We had our 12 week check up and got to see your little bod!  You have a head and arms and legs and a little tiny body!  Its just so amazing how much you are growing.  You are doing so good in there!  This was also the day of the big reveal!  We got to tell everyone we know about you and it was so special.  Your dad and I are super giddy with all the “Congrats!” and “Yays!” coming our way.  And good news….you and I are feeling really good these days.  Little bursts of energy here and there are coming back and food is getting really exciting again!  We think sharing the news about you has given us so much more freedom to swoon over you and, if at all possible, we are even more excited about you.  We love you so dang much!

XOXO,

M

Dear little one,

There is the tiniest of pooches beginning to form.  Most likely from your plum status.  You’re getting so big, and there is so much more growing to do.  Next week we get to see you again and we’ll be able to drop the announcement bomb on everyone!  We’re so excited to tell everyone about you.  It’s getting really hard to not talk about you with everyone.  Yesterday your dad had me laughing so hard and we were hoping that you could feel the joy already in place for you when you arrive.  I made you something yesterday and as I was drawing this simple little print for your room, I couldn’t help but smile.  You are already so very dear to me.  This week you are super obsessed with capn crunch peanut butter.  We eat a few bowls a day and we love it! (this might also be the reason for the pooch beginnings : ) )  Love you lots little plum!

XOXO,
M

You guys…this is real.

I felt the urge to share this mile stone with you today.  I am 10 weeks and 3 days along and for the first time I caved and used a rubber band to button my pants.  Let me tell you…I am so thankful for this stretchy rubber band wrapped around my button.  I can breathe.  This is probably the high light of my week.

I’m gonna be really honest for a second here…no judgement, okay?

Everyone always talks about how awesome being pregnant is and how great you feel.  I’m sure that’s true for some women, but i feel a bit like crap.  I haven’t been able to enjoy food for like 3 months, brushing my teeth makes me want to lay down because its so exhausting and also makes me gag like crazy (the gagging…oy), oh and the mood swings.  I should ask brett to write a post for dads on how to handle that stuff…because…im not the easiest lady to deal with these days.

I am thankful that I have only thrown up once and I have friends who lost 10 lbs in their first trimester because of how sick they were.  So I’m doing okay in that area.  I’m just a get up and go kinda gal and I got no get up to give.

I hear these sort of things ease up around week 12 or 13 so I’m pretty pumped to get there.

I am still totally excited about this little life that is going to rock mine and Bretts world.  Just admitting that it is hard work!

So to all the first time mamas out there with their stretchy pants and their sleepy eyes…I get you.  And…we got this!

…Katie.

Dear Little One,

Today was our first Dr. appointment.  We were really nervous to see how you were doing in there.  Your dad and I eased the tension with awkward jokes, which I’m positive you will grow to love as you get older : ).  The most amazing thing happened, which we weren’t expecting.  We heard the sound of your teeny tiny heart beat.  You are DEFINITELY in there and you are the size of a raspberry!  Look at you go!  These days you don’t really want to eat anything, which is not super fun, but your dad is doing an awesome job taking care of us.   We moved into your first home this week, which is super exciting!  We’re right next door to the Jessens who are our best friends, and their baby boy is coming just a few months before you!  We love you little one, keep on doin watcha gotta do! Grow grow grow!

XOXO,

M

Lets start off with a little story…

My dear husband and I have had a whirlwind of a few months that began with a surprise (but not completely accidental) positive pregnancy test in December.  The funny part about this is that he found out first.  Thats right.  I am the weirdest pregnancy test taker…EVER.  I took the test and set it on the bath tub, then got ready for work with out even glancing at the thing.  Why I am like this…I have no idea.  Needless to say my sleepy husband stumbled upon a positive test and called me at work to break the news.

Unfortunately, a week after this event, we miscarried.  It was such a quick thing…one moment we’re freaking out and the other we’re sad at the loss of what we thought was going to be a new adventure in our lives.  We had a period of mourning and rested in the fact that…if at the end of the day we are left with the two of us, we’re doing pretty awesome.  I’m so thankful for the man Brett is, and the love we have for each other.

So…fast forward to January 10th.  I’m at work and had just consumed a monstrous burrito.  This burrito was a bad idea.  I felt terrible for the rest of the day.  Damn you burrito!  I made a joke about being pregnant again, which spurred the decision to take another test.  And ya know what?  I did it again!  I took it…set it down and started making dinner.  My husband checked it and broke the news!  He’s a good man takin’ care of his absent-minded lady.  So here we are!

Baby on the way!  I’m 12 weeks today and the news is out!  So I wanted to start sharing the little series I’ve been working on (in secret, muah ha ha ha)  along with some little notes to the little one. Yay baby Lemster!

Dear Little One,

This is the day we found out about you.  Your dad already loves you SO much and even kisses you and tells you he loves you, and I’m pretty sure you cant hear it yet…but thats not stopping him.  The only thing you and I want to do is eat french fries and take naps, which i am totally all for.  We’ll eat healthy next trimester when I can keep things down better.  Everyone who knows about you…all your grandmas and grandpas and aunts and uncles are SO excited about you.  They already love you a ton.  Your doing a good job growing in there and i’m super proud of you.

Le hubs and I are super huge fans of hanging out at home and watching movies. We are pretty much pros at eating junk food and laying low.  So we decided to have a little bit of an adventure on Saturday.

i grew up a beach baby.  My family camped out at Doheny beach every year for spring break.   in high school my friends and i were in san clemente every weekend, every morning in the summer, and every year those same friends and i with all of our husbands and wives and now children camp in san o.

Whenever I’m in that area I always feel at home.  Time seems to slow down, stress gets the heck outta there and I’m light again.

so we decided to go on a little tour of all the places I grew up loving.

We started with lunch at the Harbor House Cafe.  I had some monstrous chicken crispers and Brett ate a mountain of french toast.

then we made our way to salt creek for a little lounging and ocean to feet interaction.

Then we topped off the evening with some el torito on the harbor.  Can I get an amen for fajitas! Amen!

It was a very successful day!  Which totally ended with candy and movies at home 🙂

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend too!

We are the Lemsters, made up of one Brett and one Katie.

We live in sunny California and love the crap outta each other.  In my spare time I like to get crafty over here with my good friend Faith.  This is just my own little personal place where I can share stories, attempts at recipes, crafty things, or just thinks I like.  So take a look around and enjoy!
