Lets start off with a little story…

My dear husband and I have had a whirlwind of a few months that began with a surprise (but not completely accidental) positive pregnancy test in December.  The funny part about this is that he found out first.  Thats right.  I am the weirdest pregnancy test taker…EVER.  I took the test and set it on the bath tub, then got ready for work with out even glancing at the thing.  Why I am like this…I have no idea.  Needless to say my sleepy husband stumbled upon a positive test and called me at work to break the news.

Unfortunately, a week after this event, we miscarried.  It was such a quick thing…one moment we’re freaking out and the other we’re sad at the loss of what we thought was going to be a new adventure in our lives.  We had a period of mourning and rested in the fact that…if at the end of the day we are left with the two of us, we’re doing pretty awesome.  I’m so thankful for the man Brett is, and the love we have for each other.

So…fast forward to January 10th.  I’m at work and had just consumed a monstrous burrito.  This burrito was a bad idea.  I felt terrible for the rest of the day.  Damn you burrito!  I made a joke about being pregnant again, which spurred the decision to take another test.  And ya know what?  I did it again!  I took it…set it down and started making dinner.  My husband checked it and broke the news!  He’s a good man takin’ care of his absent-minded lady.  So here we are!

Baby on the way!  I’m 12 weeks today and the news is out!  So I wanted to start sharing the little series I’ve been working on (in secret, muah ha ha ha)  along with some little notes to the little one. Yay baby Lemster!

Dear Little One,

This is the day we found out about you.  Your dad already loves you SO much and even kisses you and tells you he loves you, and I’m pretty sure you cant hear it yet…but thats not stopping him.  The only thing you and I want to do is eat french fries and take naps, which i am totally all for.  We’ll eat healthy next trimester when I can keep things down better.  Everyone who knows about you…all your grandmas and grandpas and aunts and uncles are SO excited about you.  They already love you a ton.  Your doing a good job growing in there and i’m super proud of you.

xoxo,

Le hubs and I are super huge fans of hanging out at home and watching movies. We are pretty much pros at eating junk food and laying low.  So we decided to have a little bit of an adventure on Saturday.

i grew up a beach baby.  My family camped out at Doheny beach every year for spring break.   in high school my friends and i were in san clemente every weekend, every morning in the summer, and every year those same friends and i with all of our husbands and wives and now children camp in san o.

Whenever I’m in that area I always feel at home.  Time seems to slow down, stress gets the heck outta there and I’m light again.

so we decided to go on a little tour of all the places I grew up loving.

We started with lunch at the Harbor House Cafe.  I had some monstrous chicken crispers and Brett ate a mountain of french toast.

then we made our way to salt creek for a little lounging and ocean to feet interaction.

Then we topped off the evening with some el torito on the harbor.  Can I get an amen for fajitas! Amen!

It was a very successful day!  Which totally ended with candy and movies at home 🙂

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend too!

Today is my Friday which makes me feel all mushy and happy inside!

If you wanna add a little festive to your home this bunting is super simple.  All you need is:

  • glitter duct tape
  • bakers twine
  • scissors

Just cut the duct tape in 8 in. strips, fold over bakers twine, and snip little triangles on the ends.  Voila! Super easy sparkly bunting!

Whether you are taken or not, hope you are feelin the love. Happy Valentine’s Day friends!

I love my iphone and the fact that I always have a camera on me to catch memories in the making, but sometimes I do miss that big box of photos that I used to shuffle through by hand.  Instead of the good ol shuffling through photos by the swipe of a finger.  For mine and Bretts one year anniversary I decided to make a little photo book of all of my favorite photos living in my phone.  This was an anniversary gift, but it could easily be used as a little valentine prezzie for your special someone.

One of the best things I’ve ever done is download the postal pix app!

If you havent heard of it, it is amazing!  You can go through your photo library and pick which photos you would like to order, specify the size, the amount of each and then pay for them and order them directly from your phone.  The quality is awesome and they get shipped to you in 3 days or so!  Its super easy and an awesome way to get your favorite pics from your phone to your hands!

All you need for this project is:

  • cardstock
  • washi tape
  • photo prints
  • sharpee

Mine was a small book of 4×4’s, which is perfect for our little entry table.  This was for our first year of marriage, but I’ll most likely do more as time passes.  So make a little photo book, theme it up, give a gift to someone special!  Its fun!

To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of Valentines day.  Every year that Brett and I have been together, we usually order a pizza and watch the movie we watched on our first date.  My idea of a good romantic evening (for real, that’s not sarcasm). The movie we watch is Grind, if you have not seen it, its an epically cheesy, yet hilarious movie about skating.  We bonded over it, and im pretty sure that’s one of the main reasons Brett wanted to marry me.

Anywho, this year a friend and I decided to throw a little couples party at mine and Bretts new place.  I’ve been embracing the cheese and loving red and pink hearts.  I’m actually pretty excited to celebrate the love with some good friends and treats.

Good ol’ reliable pinterest has been inspiring me:

We’ve already stashed up on supplies and are going to craft the night away.  I’ll be sure to post some photos of the event.

Happy Monday!

We are the Lemsters, made up of one Brett and one Katie.

We live in sunny California and love the crap outta each other.  In my spare time I like to get crafty over here with my good friend Faith.  This is just my own little personal place where I can share stories, attempts at recipes, crafty things, or just thinks I like.  So take a look around and enjoy!
