We received a package in the mail yesterday addressed to Penny Lemster.

I turned to giddy mush when I saw that my amazing mother in law sent us these incredibly adorable teeny tiny baby Toms!

Whats great about this, is we told her Tuesday afternoon what we were having and they arrived Thursday afternoon.  Mama Carolyn must’ve been chompin at the bit to get this little one something tiny!  Its so fun to share all of this excitement with our family! And getting little gifts in the mail from the people you love is always fun!

Happy Friday Friends!

Dear little lady,

Your dad and I were shocked to find out that you are indeed a little baby girl!  And even more shocked when we decided to give you a different name than the one we’ve planned all along.  We’ve decided to name you Penelope Joy Lemster.  Joy is a pretty special name.  My mom gave me the name Joyce as my middle name after her mom, and so I’m handing the name down to you.  Its fun to already have something special to hand down to you.  We’ve been loving calling you by name, even this morning when your dad went to work he gave me the usual kiss on the forehead and i love you and then turned and said “i love you too penny”.  My sleepy heart just melted.  Everyone is SO excited about you and you even got your first present from my boss this morning.  Its a cuddly little bunny rabbit with rosy red cheeks.  You are going to LOVE it.

Our doctor said that you are growing just fine, your even 3 days ahead of schedule and everything is growing perfectly.  We’re so proud of you!

This weekend I plan on getting some things up in your nursery.  Now that I know who you are I’ve got some great ideas for your little space : ).

You are so amazing Penny, we are so incredibly thankful for you and we feel so lucky that we get to be your parents.

We love you little lady.

XOXO,

M

I came into work today and my boss asked me how my weekend was, and I couldn’t remember doing anything (pregobrain) and then I realized it was actually a pretty jam-packed weekend.

I spent Friday night with my sis in law (sizzle) who is also totally pregnant again!  Yay cousins in the making!  We ordered pizza and totally pigged out and then worked on some crafty things for our dear friend Christy’s shower (who is expecting a little lad in June…babieseverywhere!)  It was so great to just kinda chow down and chat baby and hang out with each other.  I’ve always been pretty close to my sister in law, but I’ve been way more thankful for her lately and her sweet baby wisdom…going through something as crazy and awesome and royally bizarre as pregnancy with someone you are close with is really quite special.

The shower was zoo themed and turned out SUPER cute.

One of the ladies helping with the shower made these amazing little stuffed animal habitats.  It was really fun to get together and celebrate Christy and her little one on the way.  Also, there were some very legit snacks : ) (bonus!)

I was also able to squeeze in a lovely little coffee date, with a sweet lady friend of mine and an early morning showing of Iron Man 3 with our dear friends and neighbors the Jessens.

A funny little tid bit about this weekend was a little purchase we made while grocery shopping at target.  I’m only 21 weeks pregnant and my hands are totally already swelling.  The 93 degree weather we’ve had last week probably wasn’t helping much.  My wedding rings were getting a little snug…they weren’t too bad, but when they would start to feel a little tight and id start to kinda freak out and be worried that id leave them on too long and end up getting them stuck on there.  I love my rings.  They are super simple and very much me, but we decided to just be ridiculous and buy some giant fake rings to wear through my pregnancy.

BAM!

If you know me, you know how funny this is, because this is SO not my kinda steez.  But it is kinda fun walkin around with this big ol ( genuine cubic zirconia) rang on my finger. : )

In other news…TOMORROW!  Tomorrow we find out what is growin in my belly and we are freaking out with excitement!  Can’t wait to share the big news with everyone!

Until then!

little one,

We did it!  We’re half way there!  When I think of how fast this 20 weeks has gone, I can only imagine how fast the next 20 will be.  You move like crazy…all.the.time.  And its amazing every time you do it.  You LOVE spicy things.  I think we will eat anything as long as it has chalula and ranch dressing on it.  We’re really big on chicken sandwiches right now and you still love ice cream a whole lot.

Your dad and I are super excited about next week because we get to see you at our appointment and we FINALLY get to know if you are a lad or a lady!  We can not wait!  Mainly because I cant wait to buy you things! : )

Keep growing strong in there little one and keep giving us those little kicks of yours!

We love you so much!

XOXO,

It is this little ones 1st birthday today!

We had a little celebration for her on Saturday.  My sister in law set up a super cute pin wheel theme birthday party in the park with some snacks and friends.  She made these AWESOME strawberry cupcakes that I’m still thinking about and I wish I could have eaten about a thousand of them.  mmmmm cupcakes.  I wish I had more photos of this day, but alas my prego brain really only focused on eating food, and snapping pics was out the window.

I can’t believe it has been a year since this nugget came into our lives and made me and Brett think to ourselves…hm…we could do this.

I swear nieces are a gate way to parenthood.

When she was born I looked at her and fell head over heals in love with this little person and she tricked me with her super cute lily magic and made me that maybe baby’s weren’t just scary but sorta cool too.

The trickery.

Happy Birthday Lily Bean.  We love you so very much and consider ourselves lucky to be able to watch you grow!  Cant wait for family beach trips!  : )

Little One,

Oh my goodness!  There were some milestones this week.  First things first…you are QUITE the little kicker!  Your dad finally got let in on our little kick dates and he was able to feel you move around in there for the first time!  We’re both so excited and so happy to share these little moments with each other.  Its like our first taste of family time.  All three of us hanging out together.  You kicking and wiggling around and us smiling at how amazing you are.  It is so amazing feeling you and knowing that you are a little person.  It’s hard not to think ahead and think about what kind of sense of humor you’ll have, or what your favorite things will be.  I can’t wait to find out who you are and to have the privilege of watching you grow.  I already feel so incredibly blessed being able to take care of you and watch you grow from the outside.  We Finally look like we’re doin something more than just enjoying a frequent breakfast burrito.  My belly popped out and people are starting to notice that you are in there.  Its super fun!  I did however get a belly rub from someone and im not too sure how i feel about that sort of thing happening on the regular, but its so great to know that you are growing in there!  We get to see you again in just a couple of weeks, and we CAN NOT wait to start calling you by name.  I cant believe we’re almost half way there!  You are doing so great in there and we love you SO very much.  You are pretty rad little one.

XOXO,

M

Well Hello Little One,

We’re just a teeny tiny couple weeks away from being half way there.  I can’t believe how fast the time is going, but at the same time we are so excited to meet you and it feels so far away.  Your dad has his hand on my belly any chance he gets at the hopes of feeling you kick in there.  I cant wait for him to be a part of all the little movements i share with you.  Not much has really happened this week.  We are getting our home all nice and cozy for you, so you have a safe homey place to rest your little head when you come.  Me and your dad spend most of our time in our room lately, snuggled up in bed watching movies, eating dinner, and playing cards.  We cant believe how fun it will be to have you there  laughing and playing and snuggling along with us.  We think you are going to enjoy the family we have built with just the two of us especially for you.  Keep growing all sorts of strong in there.  We love you lots and lots!

XOXO,

M

little one,

oh goodness! we got to see you today and you were a wriggly little thing.  i’m pretty sure its because i had a little decaf white mocha before we saw you, so you were most likely munching on the sugar i just inhaled.  when i saw you i said “yay you are growing!” and our doctor said you are not only growing but thriving.  she was very impressed by you.  it make me and your dad super proud.  speaking of your dad he was blown away by your tiny little hands with tiny little fingers.  he just kept saying “he has fingers! he has fingers!”  and i got a kick outta your little legs movin about (pun intended).  we are definitely growing you and i…as you can see from our post lunch work bump.  oh and also, im pretty sure you love jon foreman, i’ve been listening to my music really loud in the car lately so you can hear it, and any time one of his songs comes on, i feel you flutter around in there.  You and I are feeling SO much better which is something that was welcomed with open arms by us.  You currently still really love anything potato-esque, and still have hankerings for mc donalds soft serve, but healthier things are working their way back in the mix.  I feel like everytime we see you we fall deeper in love with you, and we get more and more excited to find out who you are as a person.  Your dad and I are going to start working on your room this weekend and the thought of you being here and sleeping (or not sleeping) in that space in just 5 short months is so exciting and unreal!  Keep on doin what cho doin baby boo…your mom and dad think you are pretty freakin cool.  we love you so very much!

xoxo,

M

We had a doctor’s appointment today and were totally hoping that since we were 17 weeks wed get to see what this little one is.  Our doctor has a pretty strict personal policy that she does not reveal gender until 20 or 21 weeks…bummer!

While disappointed that we have to wait another FOUR WEEKS till we get to know, I actually really appreciate my Dr.’s desire to leave as little room for error as possible.

One thing that was super amazing was how much this little one has grown.  My belly bump hasn’t really popped out quite yet so it is so crazy to me how something like that can live in there.  Arms, legs, belly, fingers, toes, elbows, and knees…and of course a sweet little dome : ).  It’s just so crazy to me that there is a little person just like chillin in my stomach.  Swimming around and what not.

Something we did find out this week is how much weight I have gained.  oof!  My doctor assured me that I am doing just fine, moments after I looked at Brett with deep concern saying “I have NEVER weighed this much in my entire life!”  Before you get all…”you’re carrying a baby!” and “this is totally natural” and “this is just the beginning” on me, I’m gonna get  a little real.  My family is filled with a bunch of freaks who are super weight conscious.  My mom was a professional body builder for crying out loud, and has been a personal trainer for her entire life.  Currently she’s like a size 2 on a “big” day and is about 5’2”.  I myself have never been a size 2, and have hovered somewhat comfortably around average for some time.  Needless to say…at my thinnest I felt overweight.  I know I’m not the only girl in the world who has dealt with this, and I also know that I’m not the only girl in the world who has dealt with this during pregnancy.  I told my husband the other day that I feel like I’m being held down and forced to gain weight.  In reality I am…even if i worked out like crazy I’m still going to gain weight.  If I didn’t that would, I’m sure, be super unhealthy for this baby.  I teeter back and forth between totally freaking out to being encouraged that me growing steadily is good as baby grows steadily.

As I’ve started to feel better, I’m looking forward to getting back on track with eating healthier foods.  The first few months I was just eating whatever made me feel better, which I know was NOT the most nutritious of plans.  I do need to start at least going on walks through out the week, but the energy level is still workin itself out .

I really have no solution to this feeling.  Gaining weight is a part of growing a person.  Just when the mental yuckiness gets in there, it gets a little tricky.  I’d be super interested to hear how other moms have dealt with this side of things. Any tips, tricks, recipes, good prego work outs, or just some good ol fashioned advice on pushing through the whole body conscious mindset while pregnant?  Send em my way…lets help each other out!
