In my mind my dad is 45.

I think this is because that is the age I remember him being when I realized what his age was.  So when I hear that he is 60…i shake my head and so…no no…you are 45.  It’s a very strange thing your parents getting older.  I’m not quite sure what to do with it.

Anywho…in traditional Richard behavior, what did my dad want for his birthday?  He wanted to take all of his kids (and our kids)  to the beach.  This is classic dad.  It’s a special day for him and he wants to do something nice with his family.  So…his wife bought all of us a weekend stay in Laguna.  SERIOUSLY!?  So generous and SO fun.

I’ve mentioned this before, but the beach is a pretty huge part of my childhood.  When i think back on the happiest times with my family, most moments are remembered beach side.

We kept talking about how when Toni married my dad he had 2 kids.  Now we are 4 kids and 3 grand children!  Its amazing what 10 years will do.

It was such a great way to celebrate my dad.  Falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves aint so bad either.  : )

Also…how sweet is this photo of Penny enjoying the view.  There was this little step up area in front of the patio and she would crawl up on it and watch the waves.  My heart just melted.

I cannot believe it has already been 3 weeks since Easter.  This is good solid proof on how far behind I am on blogging.  We had a fun little weekend this year which involved a beach trip to visit my mom and her fiance, church, and then a giant dinner at my dads.  We of course had a blast putting penny in a ridiculously cute Easter dress with some gold glitter high tops.  I don’t really dress her all too girly very often, so it was fun to see her in this poofy lil thing with a flower on her head.  We think shes pretty cute. Heres a few instagram photos from Easter Sunday.

This last photo is one that is very special to me and it should be noted that we did not plan this AMAZING color coordination.  I love my siblings, and niece and nephew so very much.  And getting to watch my daughter grow up with my brothers children means more to me than anyone could ever know.  It’s fitting that this was taken on Easter because in this one photo I see so much of the redemptive love of Jesus.  He is so good.  Always.

weekend

This is the first time in mine and bretts entire 5 year relationship that we have had weekends off together.  It.  Is.  Amazing.  We took some serious advantage of our 80 degree march weather and indulged in a little park day with the fam bam.  brett played a little b-ball with some random high school kids and we enjoyed some rolling and drooling on a picnic blanket.  Penny did the rolling and drooling of course.  I did the incessant photo taking.  All weekend I’ve been having these really great moments where I catch myself smiling and feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.  I love my family so damn much.  penny is becoming this little lady who is just so interested in everything.  her little personality is the best and I love her little soul.  my husband is one of the best dads in the world and he is so good to me.  having this time during the weekend really makes me appreciate the little family we have.

im so very thankful for this season.  and so thankful for the time to sit and enjoy life right now as its happening.  I cant wait to see what other little adventures the weekend will bring.  who knew weekends off together was exactly what we needed. : )

1. i woke up super early with a ton of energy.  this rarely happens so i decided to capitalize on that mess and make my wonderful husband (who takes the best care of me ever) a little breakfast.  the weather was amazing this weekend and it was so nice eating with all the windows open and a nice little breeze…and the sleepy oogly eyes at each other are always nice : )

2. finally got the urge to paint and was able to make a couple gifts for some dear friends of mine that are also having baby girls this summer.

3. pool time with lily bean.  good lord i love my niece. i

4. sad to say, ive been totally hooked on desperate housewives.  also i drink ice water out of this giant beer stein because im a wild thirsty beast all. the. time.  and im making penny a little blanket out of left over yarn from her poms.

this weekend was FULL of so much relaxation, friendship, alone time with the hubs and fam, and a little creating time squeezed in there.  it was the BEST!  but alas…here we are…back at work.  at least its only a 4 day week.

hope all of your memorial day weekends were fantastic!

This weekend was a bit chaotic, and also a bit wonderful at the same time.  My work had a huge event that required nearly all of my energy.  Brett and I were up at 8am helping set up everything and left around noon to begin our trek to bakersfield for a friends wedding.  We made it up there at about 2, went to the wedding at 330 and were out with his friends until 1am.  Needless to say…i was quite the tuckered out pregnant lady.

We do enjoy when we get to get fancy though.  We don’t do it very often…but I think us Lemsters clean up pretty well.

Sunday was a family day and we were able to go to church with everyone and see the bako side.  There were lots of belly rubs and excited conversation and it was fun to be around more people that are just as excited about our growing family as we are : ).  There are some good ones up there.

Post lunch we did a little shoppin and bretts mom bought penny some pretty adorable outfits.  My favorite was this little overall stripey shirt combo, that coincidentally enough matched one of bretts t shirts exactly.  I die.  The thought of them matching was about the cutest thing ever to me, and i giggled as i looked at all her little tiny clothes spread out on the floor.

(sidenote:  how fun is the new a beautiful mess app?!…ive been playing with it a ton and its fun to see everyone adding little details to their photos here and there.  the ladies over there did a wonderful job with this thing…i highly recommend it!)

We also scoped out a “totally bad ass” (bretts words) stroller at babys r us.  Its an epic jogging stroller with some pretty sweet bonus features and we are all about it.  Baby gear is still completely overwhelming to me, but i think having brett there makes it a little less scary.  Plus it was super helpful to have mama carolyn walk us around and tell us what everything was…ha!

Then we got to go to dinner with bretts dad and step mom before heading home.  Its so cute to see how excited his dad is about this little one.

All in all it was a very action packed weekend but it was super fun to see some faces that we dont get to see often and to celebrate the marriage of some pretty awesome peeps!  I wish we could make it up there more often.

Happy Monday and Cheers to another week!

It is this little ones 1st birthday today!

We had a little celebration for her on Saturday.  My sister in law set up a super cute pin wheel theme birthday party in the park with some snacks and friends.  She made these AWESOME strawberry cupcakes that I’m still thinking about and I wish I could have eaten about a thousand of them.  mmmmm cupcakes.  I wish I had more photos of this day, but alas my prego brain really only focused on eating food, and snapping pics was out the window.

I can’t believe it has been a year since this nugget came into our lives and made me and Brett think to ourselves…hm…we could do this.

I swear nieces are a gate way to parenthood.

When she was born I looked at her and fell head over heals in love with this little person and she tricked me with her super cute lily magic and made me that maybe baby’s weren’t just scary but sorta cool too.

The trickery.

Happy Birthday Lily Bean.  We love you so very much and consider ourselves lucky to be able to watch you grow!  Cant wait for family beach trips!  : )
