27 weeks.

Little one,

You’re my perfect, my perfect, my perfect, my perfect little peeeeenny!

That is a real song, and we sing it to you all. the. time. You are definitely getting bigger, because yesterday you gave me a swift kick in my rib, which was not all that pleasant. I’m so used to feeling you low and you are all over the place now. Sometimes both sides of my belly move at the same time, which is most likely your little arms and legs moving about. You are constantly partying it up in my belly! You still move around while im awake and sleep when i sleep, which your dad and i pray carries over into your first few months of life on the outside.

We are officially in the 3rd trimester and we get to meet you in exactly 3 months! goodness gracious!

your dad was doing laundry last night and accidentally washed one of your shirts (which needs to be washed eventually so…good job dad!). we sat and looked at this tiny shirt that was pulled out of our laundry and couldn’t believe that we will have someone soon that is small enough to fit in that tiny little shirt! you are so little and so precious. its all so amazing!

all in all we’re feeling pretty good and you are loving everything we eat. you have a bizarre affection for raisins. which i don’t mind at all. they are probably a lot healthier than the chalula and ranch phase we went through.

keep on doin what your doin baby girl. we love you a whole lot…and then some.

Little one,

We are on our last week of the second trimester! WHAT? thats crazy!

some neat things and also some not so neat things happened this week. lets begin with the neat!

you’ve started doing this really cute thing where when your dad says hello and asks you to give him a good kick or “high five” you totally thump back to him. this could just be coincidence but it happens pretty frequently, so we’ve decided that you are a baby genius and can kick on command : ). Also, pretty neat…your auntie karen and cousin lily lent you some really adorable outfits! i cant wait to see your adorable buns in some of these cuties!

the not so neat is when we took a little tumble down the stairs on campus when your dad and us were having some lunch. luckily i have a talent for falling gracefully enough to not land on you and to only really scuff the crud outta my legs. you are safe and so am i, but it definitely was not a very fun experience. your dad was pretty worried most of the day, but our doctor assured us all is well. sorry for the scare little one. its hard to not be a little clumsy when im starting to not be able to see my feet so well : ).

we’ve ventured into the double digits and you are now 98 days away (give or take a few im sure) from being inducted into this little family of ours. we are so excited! we love you so much penelope joy.

oh little lady,

we are head over heals for you! we’ve already begun special care in getting your room all sorted out for you. i love to think of you sleeping/not sleeping in there and growing and learning and getting lots of kisses all over your sweet little face from me and your dad. your kicks are getting so much bigger…and higher! the other day you kicked me so high it scared me, you are getting so big! sometimes i get so preoccupied that i forget your in there, and then you give me a swift kick in the belly and remind me.

Yesterday we did our first pregnancy work out and let me tell you it was no easy task. I’m gonna start taking better care of us : ). Going on long walks with your dad and doing some work outs here and there, ill try not to move around too much so you aren’t getting all shakin up in there.

You are still super into eating things with chalula and ranch dressing. Although today you have had a huge hankering for some sort of sorbet or an icey coffee beverage of sorts. This heat is already doing a number on us, and i think we just want something fresh, light and chilly.

little one,

We did it! We’re half way there! When I think of how fast this 20 weeks has gone, I can only imagine how fast the next 20 will be. You move like crazy…all.the.time. And its amazing every time you do it. You LOVE spicy things. I think we will eat anything as long as it has chalula and ranch dressing on it. We’re really big on chicken sandwiches right now and you still love ice cream a whole lot.

Your dad and I are super excited about next week because we get to see you at our appointment and we FINALLY get to know if you are a lad or a lady! We can not wait! Mainly because I cant wait to buy you things! : )

Keep growing strong in there little one and keep giving us those little kicks of yours!

Little One,

Oh my goodness! There were some milestones this week. First things first…you are QUITE the little kicker! Your dad finally got let in on our little kick dates and he was able to feel you move around in there for the first time! We’re both so excited and so happy to share these little moments with each other. Its like our first taste of family time. All three of us hanging out together. You kicking and wiggling around and us smiling at how amazing you are. It is so amazing feeling you and knowing that you are a little person. It’s hard not to think ahead and think about what kind of sense of humor you’ll have, or what your favorite things will be. I can’t wait to find out who you are and to have the privilege of watching you grow. I already feel so incredibly blessed being able to take care of you and watch you grow from the outside. We Finally look like we’re doin something more than just enjoying a frequent breakfast burrito. My belly popped out and people are starting to notice that you are in there. Its super fun! I did however get a belly rub from someone and im not too sure how i feel about that sort of thing happening on the regular, but its so great to know that you are growing in there! We get to see you again in just a couple of weeks, and we CAN NOT wait to start calling you by name. I cant believe we’re almost half way there! You are doing so great in there and we love you SO very much. You are pretty rad little one.

Well Hello Little One,

We’re just a teeny tiny couple weeks away from being half way there. I can’t believe how fast the time is going, but at the same time we are so excited to meet you and it feels so far away. Your dad has his hand on my belly any chance he gets at the hopes of feeling you kick in there. I cant wait for him to be a part of all the little movements i share with you. Not much has really happened this week. We are getting our home all nice and cozy for you, so you have a safe homey place to rest your little head when you come. Me and your dad spend most of our time in our room lately, snuggled up in bed watching movies, eating dinner, and playing cards. We cant believe how fun it will be to have you there laughing and playing and snuggling along with us. We think you are going to enjoy the family we have built with just the two of us especially for you. Keep growing all sorts of strong in there. We love you lots and lots!

little one,

oh goodness! we got to see you today and you were a wriggly little thing. i’m pretty sure its because i had a little decaf white mocha before we saw you, so you were most likely munching on the sugar i just inhaled. when i saw you i said “yay you are growing!” and our doctor said you are not only growing but thriving. she was very impressed by you. it make me and your dad super proud. speaking of your dad he was blown away by your tiny little hands with tiny little fingers. he just kept saying “he has fingers! he has fingers!” and i got a kick outta your little legs movin about (pun intended). we are definitely growing you and i…as you can see from our post lunch work bump. oh and also, im pretty sure you love jon foreman, i’ve been listening to my music really loud in the car lately so you can hear it, and any time one of his songs comes on, i feel you flutter around in there. You and I are feeling SO much better which is something that was welcomed with open arms by us. You currently still really love anything potato-esque, and still have hankerings for mc donalds soft serve, but healthier things are working their way back in the mix. I feel like everytime we see you we fall deeper in love with you, and we get more and more excited to find out who you are as a person. Your dad and I are going to start working on your room this weekend and the thought of you being here and sleeping (or not sleeping) in that space in just 5 short months is so exciting and unreal! Keep on doin what cho doin baby boo…your mom and dad think you are pretty freakin cool. we love you so very much!

Dear Little One,

Mamas been slackin a little bit on updates. We’ve been super busy around here. You sure are growing. My belly is starting to pop out a little and look like a little prego tummy. You are the size of an avocado which seems super huge to me. You are growing every day and so is our appetite. Oof! We’re hungry! Here are some exciting things that have been happening! Last week, we were laying on the couch and…I felt you move for the first time! It was bizarre and wonderful and a helpful little reminder that you are actually in there. I think your dad is a little jealous that he couldn’t feel it, but i know soon enough you’ll give him a good strong kick and he’ll feel like he’s in the loop. Even as I type this you are fluttering around in there…so crazy! Another momentous occasion was, you got to experience your first Pedros burrito. This is huge to us and a bunch of people you are going to love like crazy. You were super into it and mama was real happy about that : ).

Something that I’m really excited to do is start playing music for you. Your little ears can finally hear…and oh the tastey musical treats I have planned for you. Your dad is letting you borrow his giant headphones so you can hear our favorite tunes through my belly. Our first lessen will be this evening, when I introduce the Beach Boys Pet Sounds album to you. You are going to LOVE it. “God only knows” is your Grandma Teri’s favorite song of all time. I have a good feeling you are going to like it too : ).

We’re hoping that at our next appointment we will finally find out if you are a little man or a little lady. If you could work on getting in a good position for our doctor that would be super helpful : ). We love you and we cant wait to see your little face next week! Keep doin what your doin little one.

Dear little one,

You are 14 weeks today! I think I am just now realizing that I feel pretty good today. Good Job! Last night we finally had a home cooked meal (with the help of your dad of course!) You love mashed potatoes and stuffing…this i know is a gift from me to you. No doubt we have many thanksgivings to come where our families will have to make extra bowls of things just for me and you : ). I cant believe how fast time is going by. I feel like we just found about about you and now we are chuggin right along into the second trimester. For some reason I was thinking about the Holidays the other day and I realized you get to be here for that this year. I love that the first things you will see when you are super tiny are a part of my favorite time of year. You get to come into the world during my favorite season and you get to dress up like something ridiculous on Halloween, you get to meet all our family on thanksgiving, and you get to see Christmas lights and open prezzies with me and your dad on Christmas morning! I cannot wait to watch you grow and to get a front row seat while you experience things for the first time. You are so amazing little one and we love you so very much!

Dear Little One,

Oof! We’ve had a rough week, I tell ya, but good news! We are embarking on the 2nd trimester which I hear is like THE best. The other day you really wanted donuts which was really strange (mama is not a fan of donuts…i know i know…dad doesn’t get it either) but man were they delicious. Your grandma carolyn (im sure youll come up with a super rad name for her when you are capable) bought us some super comfy new clothes…we both have tons of room to breathe and wiggle around in. Even some things we can grow into when you get bigger. Your dad and I bought curtains for your room this last weekend, which may not seem like a big deal…but every day we experience these little things that make you being a part of our family more and more real. Your dad has been looking up “super cool” strollers and he even pulled me into a baby store the other day and we gushed over tiny clothes. We have so much fun talking about you and how ridiculous you are going to be (cuz I mean…you’ll probably get it from us). Love you little one!
