Pretty much every one of my friends is talented in some way or another.  Whether its photography, music, baking, anything that involves being creative.  I love that im surrounded by people who are artistic and who do things well, and most importantly they are just genuinely wonderful people.

One of these ladies in particular is a dear friend of mine Kim Bogardus.  You should check out her photo skills here.  A couple weeks ago, she took some really sweet maternity shots of me, the hubs, and this bump o mine.  I L-O-V-E them!  She sent them to me today and I just could not resist sharing them.

She even caught me giving brett the “you are ridiculous” face.  a face that gets thrown around a lot in the lemster home.

We are quite the cheeky duo, he & i.

Thanks for capturing a day in this crazy little adventure of ours,  Kim!

You are the best!

a love letter to cotton on.

dear cotton on,

thank you.  thank you for making flowy comfy things that are ginormous.  thank you for allowing a 28 week pregnant woman to rock a size small.  your smalls may be the size of a tent, but they say small, therefore making me feel like for, even just a moment, im not a huge beast (because im wearing my pre-pregnant size). if you had a body i would hug it with all of my might!  i’m sorry that i avoided you, because i thought you wouldnt understand.  and your clothes that i love so much would no longer fit me like a glove.  i’ve learned my lesson and i will spend more time with you from now on.   you are the best cotton on, and i love you with all of my heart.

your devoted fan…now and forever,

katie.

the…trying to squeeze as much life into my old clothes as possible edition.

this is all pre prego stuff.  the bump is still small enough to give me a little bit of wiggle room with the wardrobe.  this getting bigger thing is getting a bit tricky though.  i may be due for another maternity shopping spree, but we’ll ride this wave while we can.

I have a bit of a secret.  This dress is not a dress.  Its jammies and i don’t care!  Its the comfiest thing Ive ever worn and it is here to stay!  Its a very rare occasion that I actually rock my glasses (not because I dislike them, but because i actually need them to see and my larger than life prescription gives me a case of the bug eyes) but today i was feeling especially lazy (thus the jammies as a dress ordeal). viva la comfort!

Little one,

We are on our last week of the second trimester!  WHAT? thats crazy!

some neat things and also some not so neat things happened this week.  lets begin with the neat!

you’ve started doing this really cute thing where when your dad says hello and asks you to give him a good kick or “high five” you totally thump back to him.  this could just be coincidence but it happens pretty frequently, so we’ve decided that you are a baby genius and can kick on command : ).  Also, pretty neat…your auntie karen and cousin lily lent you some really adorable outfits!  i cant wait to see your adorable buns in some of these cuties!

the not so neat is when we took a little tumble down the stairs on campus when your dad and us were having some lunch.  luckily i have a talent for falling gracefully enough to not land on you and to only really scuff the crud outta my legs.  you are safe and so am i, but it definitely was not a very fun experience.  your dad was pretty worried most of the day, but our doctor assured us all is well.  sorry for the scare little one.  its hard to not be a little clumsy when im starting to not be able to see my feet so well : ).

we’ve ventured into the double digits and you are now 98 days away (give or take a few im sure) from being inducted into this little family of ours. we are so excited!  we love you so much penelope joy.

XOXO,

M

i know i know…selfies (is that what kids are calling it?) in a bathroom mirror, but one does not always have time to do an adorable photo shoot with an awesome back drop and an available husband to snap photos to my liking.

dressing my pregnant belly has proven to be a bit difficult for me.  I’ve always had a small waist and have had my whole life to learn how to accentuate the mess outta that and hide my big bum and hips…now…i have no waist, so its getting tricky.  i would never wear a form fitted dress pre pregnancy (Ive always been a bit self conscious of those curves of mine).  my initial response is to wear something over-sized and baggy, but im realizing that leads to a whole lotta frump.  i am in no way a fashion blogger…although i love fashion, fashion blogs, and all things clothes.  I’m a regular lady, with a regular budget, who has a regular style.  So to all my regular peeps who are rockin a belly, hopefully I’ll tip you off to something that will help with the struggle of dressing that bump.  and if you have tips let me know!  we’re in this together!

side note:  these sandals are awesome with the whole swelling thing.  i usually wear ballet flats to work all the time, but my feet were in need of some space in a desperate way.  they are super comfy and still cute…i highly recommend them.

To be honest, im a bit of a binge shopper.  I don’t really shop all that much and then ill spend a $100 bucks on a bunch of stuff and satisfy the need for newness in my closet.  The place i do most of my binge shopping is forever21 online (to save myself from walking around all the cropped topped teenagers that remind me that i am so…not…21).  A hundred bones goes a long way at that place.  Sometimes i think it makes Brett jealous, because he’ll spend the same amount as me on a pair of jeans and a t shirt…and i get these big ol boxes delivered to our door step with at least 10 outfits in it.

My need to feed the online shopping beast has pretty much been on hiatus since the bump arrived and can i be real when i say…i hate maternity clothes.  They are comfy as hell, but pretty pricey and really not my style.  I’ve never been a fan of empire waist (especially tops or tunics), ruching, or things that tie.  So since this belly has grown i haven’t really felt like myself.  After some consulting from an extremely fashionable friend o’ mine, I decided to try a little of my old tricks, and just up the sizing a bit.

i am irrationally excited about this dino tank.  its nice to have something ridiculous to throw on on those hot summer days.  and of course what would a shop binge be with out unneccessary accessories…

forever21 is sporting some really cute things these days…and their sale section is pretty legit right now too. ill let you know how these oversized shirts do with the bump invasion.  im pretty stoked to see how it goes.
