I cant believe its been 39 weeks. I cant believe we’re going to be parents. This journey is bizarre in the best of ways. I’m really hoping that the next photo will have our baby girl in it…but only time will tell. I’m pretty sure she’ll get here when she wants…I just hope its not another 2 weeks : )

37 & 38 Weeks.
Little One,
You are so almost here! We had a check up yesterday and the doctor told me that we’re already 2cm and 80% effaced (TMI). This could mean you’re coming soon or you’re coming in 2 weeks but goodness gracious progress is progress and you are on your way!
You’re dad and I are freaking out with excitement at the thought of getting to meet you and we’ve started walking for a while at night in the hopes that we will shake you out (or something like that…we don’t know how it works). Everything is set up and ready to go, we have everything we need and its all in its rightful place…all we’re missing is you! So you can totally come out now, we fully support it.
Even though I’m actually quite a bit terrified of labor It’s amazing how excited I’m getting. It’s almost (i repeat ALMOST) overshadowing how incredibly tired, and miserable I am. I blame the weather and its brutal hot days for this…I don’t think its really your fault at all. But mama is beat. I cannot believe that we are nearly at the end of this part of our journey together. Next stop FRIENDSHIP! It’s gonna be AWESOME!
We love you Penelope Joy. And this is only the beginning of how great our love is for you. It’s gonna grow like mad and we are so incredibly excited about you.
XOXO,
M

Little One,
We have definitely taken an interesting turn this week. You and I are BIG and so incredibly close to full term, and we can feel it. Sleeping is starting to get tough, and your kicks are awfully brutal these days. Sometimes when you roll over I feel like you might bust out of my tummy and sometimes you are tucked so far to the right its hard to believe my tummy can stretch that far. You are definitely out growing this little place you have been living for the last 8 months. Your dad and I are SO excited because next week is our 36 week check up and we finally get to have another ultra sound. We’ve been wanting to see you so bad! Its hard to believe that you can really come at any time these days. I keep reading these stories about babies coming 4 or 5 weeks early and I think about how crazy it would be if you were here so soon. I’d really like it if you came earlier, but I understand if you need to cook a little longer. Just not too long okay…your mama isn’t too keen on that 42 week possibility. We still have SO much to do to prepare for you but we are so incredibly ready to meet you!
We love you Penelope Joy.
XOXO,
M
34 weeks.
Oh hello Little one!
Here we are, 34 weeks! We had a check up today and you are still growing right on track. I asked our doctor how big you were and she said you were about 4 pounds! You’re on track to being a 7 pound baby, so I’m hoping you keep growing the way you’re growing. If at all possible we just keep getting more excited about you. More and more things for you are pouring into our home and its so crazy to think that in 6 weeks you will be wearing these little onesies, bouncing in these little seats, and sleeping (lord willing) in your little crib. Sometimes your dad just goes to your room and stands in the doorway looking at everything. Its getting a bit real.
Sleep is getting a bit tricky, the more you grow. We’ve had some 5am cereal time this last week for sure. It’s kind of nice to sit in the early morning quiet with you. I’m sure we will have MANY moments like that when you get here. As tired as we’re gonna be, I’m pretty excited to hang out with you.
I love you little one. So much!

Hello Little One,
oh man oh man…i know i say this every week. but you, my little lady, are growing. i feel like you have tripled in size in the last few weeks. the other night your dad and i were reading and i started to fall asleep…and then WHAM! you kicked me right in my ribs making me sit up. your dad had wide eyes and kept saying “i saw that! are you okay?!” you are quite strong. its pretty impressive, and although your kicks are not always the most pleasant thing in the world…it sure is nice knowing you are growing and movin around in there.
apples and grapes are big ticket items with us these days. which is good because i think the whole french fry thing was getting a little out of control. its nice to see some good for you foods sneaking their way into our day. although, the “spuderido” (a bean and cheese burrito, with french fries in it) has made a regular appearance as well. so, its balancing out.
everyone keeps saying we have a long way to go, but i feel like the time is flying by! august is the only thing that stands between us and you! thats so crazy! all of your little friends are being born, and its making me so anxious to finally have you!
we love you penny! youre the bestest!
XOXO,
M
32 weeks.
Hello Little One,
I am convinced that your size is doubling by the day. It feels like all of a sudden you are massive. Our doctor is very excited that you are exactly on track, measuring right on at 32 weeks. So to all those people who think we look like we should be due any day…YOU’RE WRONG! You’re doing so perfectly. Your dad and I have started to take classes to prepare for you and it getting more and more real that you will be here with us in no time at all.
You currently love laying on your side with your head to the left and your little buns on the right, which makes my belly this really odd peanut looking shape. It’s kinda funny that you already have little habits like this. Lately you are totally down with pancakes, which is new. I’m not a huge fan of pancakes but man…some little blueberry pancakes with some peanut butter on that mess…its soooo good. I think for the first time in my whole life, we actually bought pancake mix, and plan to have a little pancake party this weekend : ).
You are introducing me to all sorts of new foods : ).
I love you little one. 8 more weeks to go and we get to hug you and squeeze you (gently of course). Cant wait!
XOXO,

a love letter to cotton on.
dear cotton on,
thank you. thank you for making flowy comfy things that are ginormous. thank you for allowing a 28 week pregnant woman to rock a size small. your smalls may be the size of a tent, but they say small, therefore making me feel like for, even just a moment, im not a huge beast (because im wearing my pre-pregnant size). if you had a body i would hug it with all of my might! i’m sorry that i avoided you, because i thought you wouldnt understand. and your clothes that i love so much would no longer fit me like a glove. i’ve learned my lesson and i will spend more time with you from now on. you are the best cotton on, and i love you with all of my heart.
your devoted fan…now and forever,
katie.

Hello Little One!
we are diving right into summer with some above 100 degree weather these days. its a bit rough. im sure you are comfy and cozy in there, but mama is hot hot hot. and swelling like a balloon!
lately you will get a good stretch in there and i can feel one of your little limbs poking at my belly. sometimes when you roll over i can feel it go from one side of my belly to the other. its really amazing. i don’t think i could ever describe how incredible this is…to feel you moving around in there and to know that in 11 short weeks (whoa!) we get to meet you and smooch all over those little arms and legs that have been flailing around in my tummy!
we have a doctors appointment next week, hopefully we will get to see you! but i’m excited to hear about how you are growing in there!
we start our birthing classes in a couple of weeks! we’re getting all sorts of prepared for you, and we are really wishing you were here already! we love you so much penny!
XOXO,

28 weeks.
Hello Little One!
You’ve been doing all sorts of things like kicking (or headbutting…im not really sure) my bladder. That has been…interesting. You also go through these fits where you kick and roll and dance about for a good solid minute and then you are silent like nothing happened. I think you are itching to get out and wriggle your legs and arms in the open air! Last night your dad got to feel one of these fits. He always seems to get his hand on my belly right when your finished and only feels a thump or two, but this time he got to experience you having a rager in my belly and his eyes got so wide. He thinks you are pretty amazing (i do too).
I think our days of second trimester face stuffing are behind us. We have the appetite but with you growing all sorts of crazy, my stomach cant hold what our tummys really desire. Which lately you have been craving fruity things. You’ve still got that raisen thing going on, but now we would also like all the grapes we can eat…apples…bananas…really anything light and fresh. the strange part about that is you mama looooves green apples and green grapes, but you want no part in that business. red apples and grapes all day long.
you’re doing great penny! keep up the good work in there and we get to see you so very soon! we’re almost at the 10 week count down! yay!
we love you with all our heart!
xoxo,
M
PregoProbs…things you should never say to a pregnant lady edition.
things you should never say to a pregnant lady…andiquote:
“wow you’re huge!”
“oh my god your so big!”
“how far along are you” “oh man you must have a big baby”
“your belly is way bigger than it should be”
“you are getting bigger!”
“look at you!” (puff cheeks and hold hand out in front of belly…simulating your size)
things you should always say to a pregnant lady:
“you look beautiful!”
“look at your tiny belly!”
“you are the most majestically gorgeous female in all the land!”
“your hair (skin, eyes, legs, pretty much anything) looks great!”
Why people feel the need to say ridiculous things to woman that are at least 30 lbs heavier than their normal state is BEYOND me. if you see a prego…dont talk about their size, dont mention their weight or the fact that their face is a little rounder…what is that? tell them they are lovely, give them a congratulations and move on! trust me…itll make them feel so much better.
getittogetherpeople.
sidenote: those sunglasses that were “lost forever” that i mentioned in the last list of pregoprobs…i found them the other night…in my purse. again i say…pregoprobs.
