27 weeks.

Little one,

You’re my perfect, my perfect, my perfect, my perfect little peeeeenny!

That is a real song, and we sing it to you all. the. time. You are definitely getting bigger, because yesterday you gave me a swift kick in my rib, which was not all that pleasant. I’m so used to feeling you low and you are all over the place now. Sometimes both sides of my belly move at the same time, which is most likely your little arms and legs moving about. You are constantly partying it up in my belly! You still move around while im awake and sleep when i sleep, which your dad and i pray carries over into your first few months of life on the outside.

We are officially in the 3rd trimester and we get to meet you in exactly 3 months! goodness gracious!

your dad was doing laundry last night and accidentally washed one of your shirts (which needs to be washed eventually so…good job dad!). we sat and looked at this tiny shirt that was pulled out of our laundry and couldn’t believe that we will have someone soon that is small enough to fit in that tiny little shirt! you are so little and so precious. its all so amazing!

all in all we’re feeling pretty good and you are loving everything we eat. you have a bizarre affection for raisins. which i don’t mind at all. they are probably a lot healthier than the chalula and ranch phase we went through.

keep on doin what your doin baby girl. we love you a whole lot…and then some.

Good morning little one!

I just got back from the doctors office and you are growing right on track. Your heart beat is super strong and you are awesome!

I had another dream about you. In each of the dreams ive had about you (there have been two) the main theme is that you have huge blue eyes just like me and your dad and you are possibly the smiley-est baby i have ever seen. I was holding you in my arms and i said “well hello there little one!” and your face just lit up. I’m pretty sure this means you are gonna be a happy little baby with some righteous baby blues! : )

i seriously can not wait to meet you and I cant believe that we’re already at 25 weeks! and the next time we see the doctor we’ll be at 30 weeks…whoa. crazy.

we love you so much penny!

This last weekend was probably the best weekend we have had since this little one joined the picture. It was the first time in a very long time that I actually had full on energy. When things like this happen, we tend to jump on it real fast because we never know how long itll last. We slept in on Saturday and decided to finally cash in an ArcLight gift card we got before Christmas. A little early afternoon movie time! This may seem SUPER elderly of us, but we love going to the movies early in the day. It’s nice to come out of a dark theatre and realize that you have an entire day left to do whatever.

After much debating we went and saw Oz the great and powerful. Which I actually enjoyed a lot, and totally cried a few times (hormones). My lovely husband agreed to share popcorn with me AND let me get a hot dog : ) (pregnancycravings) When the movie was over we walked around in the sunshine a bit, poking our heads in shops here and there, and then headed to lunch at The Counter. Which, by the way, if you live in Pasadena and have not been to this place yet…go…build your burger! Taste and see that it is good! Ooo, and split a pile of regular and sweet potato fries.

(good lord i love this man…i have never felt more taken care of in my life…and even when im being totally irrationally pregnant…hes super supportive, helpful beyond measure, and extra loving…sothankfulindeed)

We wrapped up our little outing and went home and partly napped – partly snuggled, while we watched Harry Potter and I did crafty things in bed.

And then the real exciting thing happened. I got up and completely cleaned up our room, got things on the wall, and organized it how I wanted to.

I’m not sure exactly when this nesting thing hits, but it has hit me hard. With the thought of this little one coming along, somehow the hand me down things we’ve acquired and were perfectly fine for the two of us, are not cutting it. I want to redo everything and make sure every part of our home is ours. Our room was just the beginning. I have great plans for each little space in our little apartment and I cant wait to get to the next room : ).

I’m so in love with our room now that its done (mostly) that I only really want to hang out in there. On Sunday morning I ate breakfast and watched tv, and read in bed. I didn’t really move until I had to leave to go grab coffee with a friend.

So all in all, it was a pretty solid weekend, of relaxing, fun little outings, and getting things done.

Just a quick little side note as well…tomorrow is our doctors appointment and we’ll be 17 weeks! We’re are REALLY hoping that we’ll get a good look at our little babes and find out whether its a he or a she! I keep talking to my belly and asking our baby to make sure to lay in a position where we can see what their workin with, so hopefully tomorrows little letter from M will include a name : )

Dear Little One,

Mamas been slackin a little bit on updates. We’ve been super busy around here. You sure are growing. My belly is starting to pop out a little and look like a little prego tummy. You are the size of an avocado which seems super huge to me. You are growing every day and so is our appetite. Oof! We’re hungry! Here are some exciting things that have been happening! Last week, we were laying on the couch and…I felt you move for the first time! It was bizarre and wonderful and a helpful little reminder that you are actually in there. I think your dad is a little jealous that he couldn’t feel it, but i know soon enough you’ll give him a good strong kick and he’ll feel like he’s in the loop. Even as I type this you are fluttering around in there…so crazy! Another momentous occasion was, you got to experience your first Pedros burrito. This is huge to us and a bunch of people you are going to love like crazy. You were super into it and mama was real happy about that : ).

Something that I’m really excited to do is start playing music for you. Your little ears can finally hear…and oh the tastey musical treats I have planned for you. Your dad is letting you borrow his giant headphones so you can hear our favorite tunes through my belly. Our first lessen will be this evening, when I introduce the Beach Boys Pet Sounds album to you. You are going to LOVE it. “God only knows” is your Grandma Teri’s favorite song of all time. I have a good feeling you are going to like it too : ).

We’re hoping that at our next appointment we will finally find out if you are a little man or a little lady. If you could work on getting in a good position for our doctor that would be super helpful : ). We love you and we cant wait to see your little face next week! Keep doin what your doin little one.

baby, life, prego probs

Little tid bits of life, giving you an inside look at the mind of a pregnant lady.

Searched for my cell phone all day. Found said cell phone in the bag of chips i was munching on earlier that afternoon.
Writing out the ABC’s with little doodles of the letter. Wrote them in this order…A, B, C, D, E, F, O, P…
Drove 45 minutes to the nearest Wendy’s, because I wanted a baked potato. delicious…not ashamed.
Can’t decide between quesadilla or two tacos…get both…proceed to eat both.
Deciding what to eat for dinner based on whether or not the thought of it makes me gag.
End nights with movies in bed and the occasional soft serve ice cream cone or chocolate chip cookie. (may not seem weird…but i am not a sweets person…at all…im pretty sure our baby got this from the dad)

I’m sure the adventure will continue. At this point its forgetfulness, sleepies, and weird food aversions and cravings. I hear from many friends willing to share, that i have barely scratched the surface of the odd side of motherhood. I’ll be happy to share these little pockets of “oh goodness” with you along the way.
